This CD was made for people (children or adults) who are learning how to read. One of the main tasks of learning to read is "letter-sound correspondence": learning what sounds the individual letters make. Good research has established that letter-sound correspondence should be a part of reading curricula. This CD was created so that learning letter-sound correspondence can occur in a joyous, pleasant way. It sings the sounds of the letters. One song starts out "Bom bom bom Ă as in apple, buh as in bus. Kuh as in cat, duh as in dog..." Another starts out "The a says ă and the b says buh, the c says kuh and the d says duh..." Another concentrates on vowel sounds, another on blends, and another on telling b from d and p from q. Some children have enjoyed these songs enough that they have listened to them over and over, absorbing letter-sound correspondence without feeling as though they are working. If you are teaching reading by tutoring, school, or homeschool, please give this CD a try. You can return it for a refund if you don't like it. One option for purchase is to send a check for $10 to Psychological Skills Press, 263 Seasons Drive, Wexford, PA 15090. Specify your shipping address and the name of the CD you want.
